When Dicamba-resistant soy is released, Monsanto will recall all RR soy, which will become obsolete as glyphosate-resistant weeds advance, leaving only the new soy. Then they will eat money.

The era of glyphosate seems to be over, the herbicide slump has no turning back, but there is already a possible substitute. Relegated by the fame of RR soybeans and without a press, he wants to take to the field for the next decade. Alone or combined with its predecessor.

The horror factories foresee these blows years in advance, which are not the same ones that our control agencies need to have breakfast with the effects of poisons that, with more than a decade of health catastrophe, still today doubt whether it is biodegradable or no. Meanwhile the new monster has already been patented.

A substitute that "does not fail":

“When Dicamba-resistant soy comes onto the market, Monsanto will recall all RR soy, which will become obsolete as glyphosate-resistant weeds advance, leaving only the new soy.” (1)

A team of researchers from the University of Nebraska, USA, discovered a gene that allows to obtain plants tolerant to the herbicide Dicamba, published in the scientific journal “Science” in May 2007. Monsanto and the University signed the agreement for the development of tolerant crops to dicamba in 2005.

The herbicide Dicamba (3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid) was registered for the first time in the USA in 1967. Currently it is marketed alone or in formulations accompanied by 2,4-D, MCPP (propionic acid) and / or MCPA (acetic acid). It's an old weed killer, served alongside Agent Orange in Vietnam, and it's been resurrected through public relations magic. Used in asparagus, barley, soy sorghum, sugar cane and wheat. Golf courses and residential lawns.

The same old ruse: “It is a widely used, inexpensive, environmentally friendly herbicide that does not persist in soils and shows little or no toxicity to wildlife and humans.” The risk is imprecise and undefined "Practically non-toxic" and "slightly toxic to bees", lying without changing the cassette, or blushing.

Between 2004 and 2007 more than 40 field test launches of dicamba resistant to corn, cotton and soy were approved in the USA.

The height of the announcements of these new "assassins" of the next decade are the request of genocidal spokesmen for greater legal security, demanding changes in the legislation to have greater control over the seeds sold in Argentina, threatening to invest in Brazil a new transgenic soybeans that will not be commercialized in our country or in Uruguay. For this reason, BTRR2 soybeans (RR and BT soybeans), developed only for Mercosur, are scheduled to launch in 2012 in Brazil and 2013 in Paraguay; in Argentina it is still uncertain (2).

In the years to come, we will hear ad nauseam that they will use conventional "plant breeding" or not, but in reality the laboratories will "induce" via mutagenesis, even grandmother's slippers, organic will be utopia, health the privilege of some, and the law from being operative it will become "substantially equivalent" to the crime.

Together we are more:

As if this were not enough, the Mengele of the seeds, sign agreements to divide the profits from the slaughter of the "guinea pigs" of South America: Syngenta, one of the world's largest producers of Dicamba closed an alliance with Monsanto for the development of high-yielding crops resistant, for example, to drought. According to the newspaper El Tiempo, from Colombia, for 2013: "There will be a future of film for soy." Priority objective, given that in various soybean agricultural regions of the USA, Brazil and Argentina, weeds resistant to the herbicide glyphosate have begun to appear. In Argentina, INTA researchers detected 29 species with different degrees of tolerance to glyphosate.

The US Patent and Trademark Office granted two patents to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in April and September 2006 for the innovation called: “Methods and materials to make and use transgenic organisms with the ability to degrade the herbicide Dicamba ”.

“BASF is the largest supplier of Dicamba and solutions based on it. In late 2009, it will launch its successful KixorTM herbicide in North America.

"Combining a second type of herbicide resistance with Roundup Ready technology would offer farmers multiple tools for weed control using Roundup, Dicamba, or combinations of both herbicides." express from Monsanto.

The pollen of the transgenic travel to kilometers of distances, contaminating traditional crops, which makes their coexistence impossible, hence the worldwide rejection of GMOs. Terminator technology has been abandoned for that reason, to which Dr Hery Daniell of Auburn University suggests: "Instead of inserting a herbicide resistance gene into nuclear DNA, it is transferred to the chloroplast genome ", Which would avoid contamination through pollen, The article in the journal" Science "cited at the beginning also addresses this issue. Proven toxicity:

Two clinical cases treated at the HECA, Rosario, Argentina, in September 1993, of young patients residing in the rural area of Zavalla, Santa Fe, include a third patient, brother of one of the above.

All three had significant dermal exposure to Dicamba when passing through a wheat field recently fumigated with MISSIL (metsulfuron methyl-dicamba), getting their clothes wet and not having washed either at that time or in the following days. They make a picture of muscle cramps in the abdominal region. The third patient mentioned (16 years old) adds nausea, vomiting, confusional state and agitated behavior, evolves spontaneously until he dies suddenly on the watch. His dicamba intoxication could not be confirmed as the cause of death, although there was no other more convincing etiological alternative. The other two young men at 24 and 48 hours after discharge, respectively, were admitted again and presented similar clinical pictures: intense and generalized myalgias (beginning in the lower limbs), great decay, eye irritation, profuse diaphoresis, fever and dark urine. Among the biochemical determinations found, it allowed to characterize the condition as Rhabdomyolysis.

Rhabdomyolysis, formerly called muscle necrosis, is a syndrome that occurs due to destruction of skeletal muscle with release of muscle cell contents into plasma. It can manifest as myoglobinuria (red or brown urine).

“Faced with severe exposure to Dicamba, a cautious behavior is necessary, including clinical observation and laboratory tests, up to 15 days later. We highlight our findings due to the absence of similar descriptions and due to the current assessment of Dicamba as a practically innocuous product ”, stated one of the doctors, a founding member of the Argentine Toxicological Association. (4)

In 2003, another study published in the Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society, evidenced the chronic toxicity produced by the herbicide Dicamba and its derivative 2-methoxy-3,6-dichlorobenzaldoxime by chronic administration in mice. The herbicide Dicamba caused depression, but they recovered; however, the oxime gradually weakened them and also, at high doses, they developed an encapsulated pyogenic abscess. Histopathological studies of the liver and kidney of mice treated with both the herbicide and its derivative, showed severe tissue damage.

On April 1, 2004, the city of Toronto approved an ordinance that prohibits the use of this type of pesticide in all public and private places, to companies that are dedicated to the care of parks and golf courses. Punishing with fines of up to CND $ 5,000.00.

The Universidad del Valle, Colombia, for its part, warns about the risk of contamination of groundwater by leaching of the herbicides most frequently applied in the cultivation of sugar cane, including dicamba. (5) Even so, it is classified as a “class C” product (moderately dangerous).

We are "irresponsible and liars":

The Conicet, lives the second part of the documentary "The world according to Monsanto", with threats, "pressures", and lawyers demanding glyphosate studies. Studies that will soon be completed, according to Andres Carrasco, with more chilling evidence of the silent killer.

While the UNL compiles cases of malformations caused by agrochemicals, the first in South America, making known its studies carried out eight years ago, data that once completed will be accused of falsehood.

They will also say that the research carried out by the Faculty of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences of the UNL in 2006 is a lie. That the report of the Faculty of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the UNR, and the Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides, is a lie. indicated adverse effects of the herbicide, in all standard categories of toxicology. The Italian Hospital of Rosario also lies, when it states that "There are causal relationships of cases of cancer and child malformations among the inhabitants exposed to agrochemicals." The studies of Gilles-Eric Seralini and Robert Belle from France, and those of the University of Pittsburg, USA lie. The Hospital de Encarnación de Paraguay and the Hospital de Nayarit de México lie in the studies carried out, related in “Yuyo lies and poison.” (6) Denying the evidence that they can no longer hide, some detractors such as Aapresid defend the use of the herbicide and questions the technical reports of the Conicet. "A group of irresponsible people who are against glyphosate-resistant soybeans, which contributed to the country US $ 22 billion, since 1996," said its president, irresponsible for such an outburst.

Representing the soy oligarchy, Biolcatti accused the main source of foreign currency of attack, stating that "there is no harm whatsoever with glyphosate", prioritizing the vile metal to the detriment of health.

"Argentina without soybeans would be like Venezuela or Arabia without oil" fired for his part, the greatest mercenary, toasting with Roundup in the Santa Fe Stock Exchange. Not satisfied with the outrage expressed, and trying to "sojiphobic" the whole who opposes the development of his wallet, hiding behind Lino Barañao, said: "That the governing body of Conicet does not endorse Carrasco's studies, and that" organic food produced hundreds of deaths, due to contamination with microbes or natural toxins "( 7), implying that the transgenic is healthier than breast milk.

Faced with such an eschatological defense of weed and poison, I remember a great truth about Gandhi: "There is enough in the world to meet the needs of all men, but not to satisfy their greed." Something that these blind, deaf and ignorant people can hardly grasp and digest.

Reforms without forms:

A draft reform to law 11,223 of Santa Fe, awaits since 2004. There are several new projects, all deficient. Changing some articles is not enough, when even the title of that law is wrong. The legislators did not understand our message, and in their "black hole" they do not allow themselves to ask for help. The Ministries of Environment and Production are throwing the ball, leaving what is important for later, while they distract us with dengue, and swine flu. Their ignorance of the subject is scandalous, even so, they do not step aside. Health is not played and they have more evidence of the health disaster than the other two agencies combined.

Senasa does not show signs of reviewing the categorization of the poison, stating from the organism that "Normally it does not offer danger", the organism itself being "normally dangerous", due to neglect. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences of Zavalla, dependent on the UNR, continues to train agronomists, at the service of Monsanto, (8) They will continue to prescribe glyphosate, to fumigate anything, in addition to soybeans. If it is not recategorized and the law is reformed, in the future they will also prescribe Dicamba, in doses of all sizes, ignoring the effects of the herbicide and the agrocide will continue ... until there is nothing left to contaminate.

Then they will eat money.
